La Jam Session Design Book es el cuarto taller organizado por El Instante Decisivo, en esta ocasión orientado a la creación y conceptualización de libros objeto: cómo transformar el punto de vista convencional de un libro para obtener un objeto artístico nuevo. El curso, que contará con la presencia de Estudio Crudo, se celebrará en la libreria Graphic Book los días 19 y 20 de abril. La exposición de los proyectos tendrá lugar a la finalización del workshop (sábado a las 20 horas), con entrada libre y acompañado de un vino español.

The Jam Session Design Book is the fourth workshop organized by El Instante Decisivo, this time about the creation and conceptualization of object books: how to transform the conventional point of view of a book into a new artistic object. With the collaboration of Estudio Crudo, the course will be held at Graphic Book library on April 19-20. The projects will be shown at the end of the workshop (Saturday at 20.00), with free admission and a Spanish wine.
El jueves 4 de abril se inaugura en la Escuela de Arte de San Telmo de Málaga la exposición Type Directors Club (TDC57), una selección de lo mejor del diseño tipográfico mundial. Organizada por la Asociación Andaluza de Diseñadores (AAD), la muestra reúne alrededor de 200 piezas premiadas por la prestigiosa organización Type Directors Club de Nueva York y podrá visitarse hasta el próximo 19 de abril.

Next Thursday, April 4th, the Arts School of San Telmo de (Málaga) celebrates the opening of the Type Directors Club Exhibition (TDC57) , a selection of the best international typographic design. Organized by the Andalusian Association of Designers (AAD), it features about 200 pieces awarded by the prestigious Type Directors Club of New York and will be open until April 19th.
Zinc Shower es el primer meeting show de emprendedores, inversores y profesionales del ámbito de las Industrias Culturales y Creativas, que aspira a convertirse en un espacio de apoyo y promoción de proyectos y fomento de la colaboración y el intercambio de conocimientos. Un evento, en definitiva, que busca “poner de manifiesto que existen nuevas formas de hacer las cosas y que estamos rodeados de talento y modelos de negocio transformadores” en estos ámbitos. El encuentro se celebrará en el Matadero de Madrid, del 11 al 13 de abril.

Zinc Shower is the first meeting show of entrepreneurs, investors and professionals in the Cultural and Creative industries, which aims to become a forum for supporting projects, promoting collaboration and sharing knowledge. In conclusion, an event that will try to “show that there are new ways of doing things and we are surrounded by talent and transforming business models” in these fields. The meeting will be held at the Matadero Madrid, from April 11 to 13.

Dodo, the magazine that is a treehouse “Somewhere in the world, buried in a chest, there’s world’s most exclusive magazine. If you want to get the only print copy, get the map, follow the path and when you think you’re in the right place, dig until you get to the chest”. This is the presentation of Dodo, a project “made without advertising nor budget” by forty creators worldwide such as Jean Jullien, Jun Oson, Ricardo Cabolo or Hidrogenesse, among many others. EME es una revista de investigación en el ámbito de ilustración cuya principal intención es articular textos inéditos y reportajes acerca de las referencias gráficas que la vinculan al diseño y otras disciplinas artísticas. De periodicidad anual y editada en español e inglés, la publicación es una iniciativa del Máster en Diseño e Ilustración (impartido en la Facultad de Bellas Artes de la UPV de Valencia). En su primer número, incluye textos sobre la ilustración editorial, los procesos creativos y sus bloqueos o la autopromoción en el diseño actual, con textos de Andreu Balius, Pablo Funcia, Marta Chaves o Álvaro Pons, entre muchos otros.

EME is an illustration research magazine whose main intention is to articulate new texts and stories about graphic references that link it to graphic design and other artistic disciplines. Annually published and bilingual (written in Spanish and English), the publication is an initiative of the Master in Design and Illustration (belonging to the Faculty of Fine Arts of Valencia UPV). In its first issue, it includes texts about editorial illustration, the creative processes and their blocks or the self-promotion in the contemporary design, with texts by Andreu Balius, Pablo Funcia, Martha Chaves or Álvaro Pons, among many others.
La Casa Encendida acoge a partir del el próximo 24 de mayo (y durante todo el verano) Pictoplasma White Noise, una exposición comisariada por Pictoplasma, plataforma ubicada en Berlín que se dedica al estudio del diseño contemporáneo de figuras y personajes procedentes del mundo de la comunicación visual. La exposición, que incluye proyecciones, talleres, conferencias y un concierto, “ofrece una perspectiva contemporánea acerca de cómo las mascotas publicitarias se han emancipado de su finalidad inicial, y se han transformado en imágenes críticas e independientes”.

La Casa Encendida (Madrid) hosts from next May 24th (and during all summer) Pictoplasma White Noise, an exhibition curated by Pictoplasma, a Berlin-based platform devoted to the study of contemporary design of characters from the world of visual communication. The exhibition, which includes screenings, workshops, conferences and a concert, “offers a contemporary perspective on how the advertising mascots have emancipated themselves from their original purpose, and have become independent and critical images”.
Bau presenta la edición 2013 de Typoweek, las Jornadas Internacionales de Tipografía y Diseño, una serie de workshops, exposiciones y conferencias relacionadas con el mundo del diseño tipográfico y sus aplicaciones en los ámbitos del diseño editorial, el motion graphics y otras disciplinas de investigación y experimentación. Ese año, Ken Barber, Jonathan Barnbrook, Hey Studio, Joancarles Casasin, Gustavo Ferreira, Bis, Joan Pujagut, Noe Blanco o Yorokobu serán algunos de los participantes de un evento que se celebrará del 1 al 5 de julio. Tratando de “recuperar la experimentación de los carteles a través del tacto”, el estudio de diseño Bisgràfic acaba de lanzar una nueva tienda online que la que pone a la venta pequeñas series de carteles de edición limitada. Basados en su forma de entender el diseño (tipografía, retícula y concepto), cada mes añadirán una nueva pieza rescatada de proyectos propios del estudio o de trabajos realizados para clientes, utilizando la técnica, papel y formato que mejor se ajuste al diseño. El primero, un cartel tipográfico basado en la frase “I think you are more perfect than Helvetica” (sobre estas líneas).

Trying to “make people feel poster design through touch again”, Bisgràfic design studio has just launched a new online store which sells small series of limited edition posters. Based on his design philosophy (typography, grid and concept), they will add every month a new piece from their own personal projects or those works made for clients, using the technique, paper and format best adapted to the design. The first one, a typographic poster based on the phrase “I think you are more perfect than Helvetica” (above these lines).
